This work introduces a .framework of reference for database design . Database (DB) design is presented as a part of information system (IS) design, because the DB design process is concerned with the construction of a database as a subsystem of an IS. Then the DB design process is related to the general system development process and all existing connections are stated. The actions which are necessary to implement a databas e are divided in two categories : data system design and management design .
