Construction of Virtual Working Environment and Evaluation of the Workers

In the age of Information Technology, the work styles of office workers are transformed. In this study, working environments for new work styles were constructed virtually. Then a method for the evaluation of the worker in that environment was developed. Workers were classified with Interaction and Autonomy, and workers with “High Interaction and High Autonomy” and “Low Interaction and High Autonomy” were evaluated. As a result of the evaluation, the following are suggested for the work environment design. 1. An office layout which makes workers concentrate on their own work, and also allows the worker to choose when to rest with a reclining chair. 2. For the “High Interaction” worker, a layout that helps worker’s communication with others is preferred.
