Real-world organizations has various natural and complex relationships with all kinds of people and other organizations. Such relationships may form complex hierarchical or composite structures. Existing data models such as relational, object-oriented, or object-relational models oversimplify even ignore these relationships and their semantics so that the semantics has to be dealt with by the applications.
