This paper contains an outline of a new form of data model with particular focus on the way real-world objects are classified. Concepts such as categorization schemes and designation schemes that are widely used in the real world are made available for conceptual modeling in a new language called CBML. Case material is used to show how this new language can help to reconcile different perceptions of information. In particular it is shown how this can lead to an enterprise model with formal links to those of specific business areas and information systems.
