Implementation is a major aspect of information systems development. Looking at implementation in a high-level context, we offer a comprehensive review of the current literature to provide an up-to-date and holistic assessment of this specific research area. Structured around factorbased and process-based implementation research, as well as two emergent research areas, viz. enterprise systems implementation and socio-technical approaches, this review offers insights into current trends and identifies research gaps in the current literature.
