Many papers have been written discussing both Relational and Non-Relational Database Management Systems (DBMS). The focus of this paper isn’t to discuss technical or conceptual details of the various database types but to discuss what database type might be best suited for various applications and use cases. Some basic concepts of each type of database will be discussed so readers with no background in a specific database type might better understand why that database type is well suited to a particular application.
